Fortune Features, Inc. is a Malibu based filmed entertainment company, specialized in international sales, film finance and production, founded by Kourosh Esmailzadeh.
In 2003, after graduating from the MPA and European Commission sponsored masters program in filmed entertainment management, European Masters in Audiovisual Management, Kourosh joined Michael Heuser’s Storm Entertainment (“Shiner” starring Michael Caine, “Heidi” with Max von Sydow and Geraldine Chaplin, “Hurlyburly” starring Kevin Spacey, Sean Penn and Meg Ryan) as Director of International Distribution, responsible for distribution of more than 35 feature-length films with budgets ranging from $2M to $30M.
Kourosh left Storm Entertainment in 2006 to launch Fortune Features; embarking on a number of exciting hybrid projects designed to maximize access to both mainstream and niche audiences.
In 2007 Kourosh engaged Stephen Jeffreys, writer of “The Libertine” (starring Johnny Depp and John Malkovitch) and “Diana” (starring Naomi Watts), to write a screenplay based on Sacher-Masoch's belle époque novel, VENUS IN FURS. Shortly after completion, the period piece was sold to a UK based company.
Building upon his previous experience in executive producing and licensing films that feature a multiplicity of inspirational speakers (including New York Times #1 bestseller, Eckhart Tolle), in 2012 Fortune released the documentary film, THE HAPPINESS MATRIX, which is based on a popular MBA course, taught at some of the world’s top-ranking business schools including Columbia, Berkeley, Kellogg and London Business Schools.
Fortune is currently in pre-production on MORTIFEROUS (received as “franchise material”), as well as in development on a slate of mainstream titles.
